2007年1月23日 · I don’t think that this is correct. I believe the rebar should be 1/4 to 1/3 of the slab thickness from the bottom. The reason is because the lower part of the slab (from the center of the thickness down) is in tension when the load is on the top of the slab. Concrete is not strong in tension and the rebar is.

It's on the most minimum of plans usually. There is no reason that the garage concrete should have any less requirement for steel than the house.
